Trails End Iris Gardens, Ontario, Canada

Welcome

Hello and Welcome to the 2010 on-line catalogue for Trails End Iris Gardens!

We have been diligently getting our website finalized for the coming Iris season. The changes are up and running and the irises we will be offering are ready for you to view.

After completing our inventory last fall and covering the new irises with straw for winter protection, we expect to be able to offer many new and exciting varieties focusing, of course, on the top award winners. With a little help from "Mother Nature", we should have a beautiful bloom.

If you want to contact us, don't forget that our e-mail addresses are now bob@trailsendiris.com or ann@trailsendiris.com.

Trails End Iris nursery is located in South-Western Ontario, Canada between Brantford and Hamilton in Canadian hardiness Zone 5b.

New this year we are listing a couple of our own Trails End introductions which are named after two of our grandchildren "Katy Witha Y" and "Mister Boy". Be sure to have a look at them.

As usual, you are encouraged to order early. Some varities are in shorter supply than others and we always reserve our stock by order date. Also, since Ontario will be implementing the Harmonized Sales Tax (HST) on July 1, 2010, customers in provinces not yet subject to the HST will save 8% if their order is received and paid for prior to this date.

Bob and I grow Award Winning varieties of Bearded Irises, including the newest introductions and Dykes Medal winners, for retail customers and garden centers. We take pride in offering only the highest quality rhizomes, grown with loving care. Bob pays particular attention to accuracy and quality by digging our plants by hand and then I carefully clean and identify each rhizome. We place a premium on customer service which is reflected in the many positive testimonials from our happy customers.

Each year visitors come from all over Southern Ontario during May and June to tour the gardens and admire the riot of color.

On our 10 acre Iris farm, we have developed perennial beds showcasing the Irises amongst companion plantings of peonies, ornamental grasses, shrubs, trees and various rockery plants. There are approximately 6000 Iris plants comprised of over 400 varieties, most of them blooming in the gardens or in the production beds. Visitors can enjoy easy access to the gardens across lawns or enjoy the view from a shaded bench. For customers wishing to purchase potted Irises, there is a limited selection available to take home on the day of your visit.

We ship Irises across Canada in late July and early August. By keeping accurate records of our inventory, Bob and I are careful to not oversell our product which enables us to deliver as promised while still maintaining our parent stock.

We test our new acquisitions for at least one season before making them available for sale. These are marked as "Available in 2011" or in other cases, "Garden Viewing Only". If you wish to order any of these varieties, you can do so by sending a deposit of $10.00 per variety to hold your reservation. Depending on the vigor of the variety and Mother Nature, some of these "Coming Attraction" plants may be available this year.

If you have any questions, feel free to e-mail us. Bob tries to answer our e-mails daily. If you wish, you can telephone us at (519) 647-9746. If we are unavailable, please leave a message and we will return your call as soon as possible.

Hoping to hear from you soon,
Bob and Ann
